Autologous Therapies 101

Autologous therapies are medical treatments that use a patient’s own cells or tissues to repair, replace, or regenerate damaged or diseased tissue. Your physician may opt to use an autologous therapy in your treatment. This may include Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP).

How is PRP Made?

Prior to your procedure, a small sample of blood is drawn from your vein. The blood is placed in a specialized centrifuge that will separate and concentrate your body’s own natural healing agents. This process takes less than 20 minutes.

In the fourth step, the buffy coat is concentrated. In the final step, cells, platelets, and growth factors are prepared.
