Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT)

AWT is a modern, highly effective treatment method characterized by the application of acoustic pressure waves to the affected body regions. This innovative treatment method is chosen by an increasing number of women as a preventive treatment to reduce their susceptibility and/or to reverse and eliminate visible signs of connective tissue disorders.

AWT, performed with the radial applicator, uses high-energy acoustic waves that are introduced into the patient’s body in the form of high-frequency oscillations. AWT is the first effective and long lasting treatment modality for treating connective tissue disorders. Acoustic pressure waves have been used in medicine with great success since 1980 for the disintegration of kidney stones and since 1992 for the treatment of orthopedic conditions, including acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Measurable and Visible Results

AWT has been successfully used in aesthetic medicine in the course of several clinical application studies. AWT treatment has a multilayer effect.

Treatment areas include:

Your medical professional will apply coupling gel to the treatment area to enhance treatment effectiveness. After these preparations, acoustic pressure waves are released via the applicator and moved over the entire treatment region.

Actual Patient Results

ESWT was able to stimulate the proliferation of fibroblast and keratocyte cells, leading to a higher number, density, and realignment of collagen fibers Type I, an increase in expression of FGF1, FGF2, and FGFR1, indicating the neocollagenesis and neoelastogenesis, and the expression of Ki67 for the proliferation of endothelial cells of the skin in individual with obesity. ESWT was associated with a significant increase in cell proliferation and collagen expression in flaccid skin of individuals who achieved weight loss before bariatric surgery, leading to promising results for the repair and prevention treatment of skin flaccidity in patients with obesity.

It’s AWT that makes the difference.

AWT treatment has proven results and these results are reflected in its high patient satisfaction. In our pilot study (Sattler, Aesthetic Dermatology February 2008) , 91% of patients would recommend AWT to other patients. The patients noticed an improvement in their skin in an average of only 3 sessions with no side effects reported.
